BC Politics and Education

A poem by Tina H. McInerney

Oil and water?

It is a task for me to write
But I did it anyway
Waiting waiting, waiting
Just to hear what she would say

Christy Clark’s answer
Was a big word for me
Returned in a form letter
Was pronounced Autonomy
Politely translated
Please pass to the school the responsibility

It is a task for me to write
But I did it anyway
Waiting waiting, waiting
Just to hear what she would say

Shirley Bond smiled for my camera
Promised we would meet
At a rainy raise-a-reader
Down town on the street

She said call
So I did again and again
But it all went in the toilet
With a new leader change

It is a task for me to write
But I did it anyway
Waiting waiting, waiting
Just to hear what she would say

Margaret McDermott was all fixed to reason
Then Campbell lost the plot
Declaring it A Season

It is a task for me to write
But I did it anyway
Waiting waiting, waiting
Just to hear what he will say

Now I wait to hear from George Abbott
To see if he will listen to what I have to say
The Next thing you know
It will be Election Day

Waiting waiting, waiting
Just to hear what he will say
